The day has finally arrived. All the prep work is really going to pay off. You’ve made the call and set your date to take your GMAT. From there, just wait a little bit, get your score and it’s time to select where you’ll enroll for your Masters of Business Administration.?

Yet as you fold up your laptop and put the textbooks away, there are some things you might want to do before you actually take the exam. After all, it’s been a little while since you’ve graduated with your Bachelor’s, and you might just have forgotten what the testing experience can be like. Get A Good Night’s Sleep – It seems no one ever grows out of pre-test, last minute cramming. At the same time, walking into a test with only two hours sleep is a sure way to make serious mistakes. Get at least six hours and don’t forget breakfast. You’ll need both.

Take Plenty of Scrap Paper and Pens – True; about 80% of the test is multiple choice. This doesn’t mean you won’t be doing calculations. The test facility is supposed to have pencils and papers on hand. Stock up. You don’t want to leave questions unanswered because you were waiting for more paper. Scope Out the Facility and Dress In Layers – Just because it’s a sunny day outside doesn’t mean you’re testing facility’s air conditioning is working or going turbo. Freezing hands or dripping sweat on one’s scrap paper isn’t conducive to maximum performance in an exam situation. Also make sure you know where such things as the facilities and the water fountain are. It’s an all-day exam after all…and sometimes nature can’t wait all day.?

Familiarize Yourself With Your Terminal – First of all, as this is an institutionalized facility, make sure such things as your mouse, monitor and keyboard are all functional BEFORE you start the exam. Is the chair going to fall apart? Do you have elbow room? Don’t be shy about maximizing your surroundings to your benefit. Also, the GMAT provides a short tutorial before you start the exam. Make sure you comfortable with it, too. There is an abundance of information about business degrees on the web.

Pace Yourself – One thing you should have developed during your preparatory period is a proper pace to answer the questions. If the question seems easy, stop for a second and make sure you haven’t missed something. If it’s a real stumper, eliminate the most likely bad ones and make an educated guess. Keeping an even keel is the best way to get the best score. If you end up with a few minutes left, you’ve paced yourself just right.

Yes, these suggestions may sound off base and perhaps even irrelevant, but they’re not.? You’ve pursued an online education towards your degree and now you at the all important test stage. Like taking the online prep course, what you are truly doing is making the testing environment as comfortable to you as possible.
